A single-herb liquid extract of dried berry of Aronia melanocarpa, cold-macerated in small batches and offered either as a traditional tincture in organic sugar-cane alcohol or as a vegetable glycerite.

About the plant

Black chokeberry is a suckering shrub of eastern North American bogs, wet woods and pond margins, growing to about two metres with glossy dark leaves that turn scarlet in autumn. It carries flat clusters of small white flowers in spring and, by late summer, dense bunches of glossy blue-black pomes. The name is a warning about texture rather than safety: the astringency is pronounced enough to shut the mouth. Poland grows more of it than anywhere else, mostly for juice, where that astringency is tamed by pressing and blending.

No added sugar. Contains no artificial colours, preservatives or fragrances.

Suggested use

Shake well before use. Take 20–30 drops (about 1 ml, one full squeeze of the dropper bulb) in 2 oz of water or juice, up to 4 times daily, or as directed by a qualified healthcare practitioner.
